"Old" Art from a New Photo

I love old photographs - they have character that just can't be beat! In addition to being a photographer, I'm also an artist who works in acrylics.  Both of my loves work together very well and recently I've begun to play around with making my modern digital photographs look like something that's been sitting around in someone's attic for a few years.

This can certainly be done in Photoshop and I often utilize that program for doing just that.  However there are times when I just have to get my hands dirty!

The artworks below (call them mixed media, photo montage or whatever) are both digital images I took just in the last couple of years in Philadelphia, PA. The digital images were printed out on regular paper and cut into different shapes for a little more fun and/or interest.  I then adhered the pieces to the canvas using acrylic medium.  Once fully dried, I then used a combination of tissue paper (also applied with acrylic medium) and acrylic paints to achieve the final results.

This is fun and inexpensive to do - I encourage anyone with that creative drive to try their hand at something similar.
